17th and 18th Century Prints: Academic Book Plates from Germany

*****************************************
Yesterday I took some time to cull some print material from the eBay site in Germany. I do not usually pull up print materials from the European eBay sites because there is just too much of it to cover in a short period of time. The majority of these 17th and 18th century prints are book plates which have been removed from publications meant for aspiring students to copy. In previous posts I have mentioned the habit of book antiquarians and antiques dealers of breaking up antique books and selling off the individual original prints. Unlike today these book plates are in fact original intaglio prints that were inserted into the publication by their original publishers. There are many collectors out there who specialize in these prints. Most can be had for not very much money and make great additions to any specialized collection. I wish I had more time to make appropriate attributions individually but alas I do not. Enjoy:

(I don't have a clue what this is all about. Interesting above perspective though)
