Philip Fleischer (1850-1930): Stand Male Nude - 1900

The Philip Fleischer male nude drawing arrived from Germany today. I scanned it and have posted the results below. It is not a large drawing yet it is very detailed and acomplished in the fine detail. The top of his shoulders and chest are highlighted with white chalk. I think these small graphite drawings are my favorite.

Male and Female Nudes - Painted Plaster Bas-Relief - circa. 1800

This is something I can honestly say I have never seen before. Antiquariat Peter Kiefer, Buch und Kunstauktionen, Pforzheim, DE has recently listed this oddity in their current auction catalog. I do not recall ever seeing a male and female academic nude executed in low-relief in a painted plaster medium before. According to the auction house, this group of reliefs dates from around 1800. I am guessing they were used in art instruction. (?) Interesting, none the less.

19th Century Italian School: Male Nude Wrestlers

Kunstauktionshaus Chiemgau, Traunstein, DE has listed this academic study of two male nude wrestlers by an unknown Italian artist from the mid-19th century in their current catalog. Unfortunately, the painting is not signed and the auction description does not give much information on the lot.
